A New Front in the War on Terror

"Blog research may provide information analysts and warfighters with invaluable help in fighting the war on terrorism." So says the US Air Force which is allocating $450,000 for a study of, yes, blogs!

Well, how about that?!?

I don't doubt that web and blog research could yield useful information (it's well known that Al Queda and other terrorist groups use the internet to post information), but you have to question a nearly half-million dollar study that states:
"Blog entries have a different structure," Ulicny said. "They are typically short and are about something external to the blog posting itself, such as a news event. It's not uncommon for a blogger to simply state, 'I can't believe this happened,' and then link to a news story."

Hey, I could have told them that for a tenth the cost!
