A Few Words About Tips

I have seen a steady increase in tips (and by that I mean people sending me info, not slipping me a five) and other emails the past couple weeks. I suppose that was to be expected, and certainly not unwelcomed, with the primary election fast approaching. Given recent events though, I thought I'd take a quick moment to address the issue.

Readers of this blog, political junkies, community activists and yes, even public officials, candidates, campaign staff and volunteers, are welcome to send me info and tips they feel deserve exposure on this blog, or simply things they feel would interest me (email: politicalyak[at]louch[dot]org).

About anonymous tips: You don't have to identify yourself of course (hey, I'll accept good tips from wherever or whoever I can get them) but it is helpful to me as I try to gauge the veracity of any claims and decide whether to post the info or not. If I can't verify your info, or am suspicious of your motives (which I will be if you don't identify yourself, or at least let me know of any campaign/political affiliations), well, then you see where that can lead. If you do identify yourself to me, but ask that I keep your identity and/or comments off the record or on background (or whatever the appropriate journalistic lingo is), I will respect that.

And one final thing. This is my blog, written under my own name. That's my picture in the corner. If you don't agree with something I've written here, that's your perogative. Please feel free to hold me accountable - send me an email or leave a comment. If that's not good enough for you, go start your own blog.
